Facilitation of the AbilityOne Program
Perhaps the most significant event of 2016 for SourceAmerica was the signing of a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. AbilityOne Commission. This fulfilled the requirement of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2016 to establish a written agreement between SourceAmerica, an AbilityOne central nonprofit agency, and the Commission. The agreement established the governing relationship, roles and responsibilities for SourceAmerica and the Commission.
As one of the designated CNAs for the AbilityOne Program, this year SourceAmerica also completed a comprehensive realignment – by federal customers – of our operational support of Procurement List service projects. The new structure improves communication and provides a solid knowledge base of service contracts for faster decision making.
Also noteworthy this year, in collaboration with the Commission and our fellow CNA National Industries for the Blind, SourceAmerica developed a project-specific Representations and Certifications process.
We are very pleased to enter into the Cooperative Agreement with the Commission. We look forward to continuing our more than 40-year legacy of creating meaningful employment and choices for people with disabilities.
