A simple solution for building connection

You probably know where to find the best pizza place or coffee shop in your neighborhood. If you don’t, there’s a strong chance you’d turn to an online search engine like Google, Safari or Bing to help you out. But do you know how to find the nonprofit agencies (NPAs) in the SourceAmerica® network? The nonprofit locator tool on the SourceAmerica website allows the public to get contact information for these NPAs anywhere in the country, including their addresses, phone numbers and websites.

“It’s like an online business directory only for the SourceAmerica NPA network,” said Carmella Page, a Senior Website Manager at SourceAmerica. “The tool is very useful for people with disabilities looking for career opportunities, or those seeking to connect family members and friends with disabilities to organizations that are set up to support them.”

More than 650 NPAs in the network are set up to employ and train people with disabilities in a supportive work environment. Many of the NPAs also participate in the federal AbilityOne® Program, one of the largest sources of employment for people with disabilities. Collectively, they employ more than 75,000 people with disabilities nationwide.

Additionally, high school and college students who participate in SourceAmerica’s annual IDEATE engineering competition can use the nonprofit locator to find local NPAs. As part of the competition, students are encouraged to partner with NPAs whose employees would benefit from custom-assistive technology built by students. The competition is currently underway, and the finals event will take place in April 2022.
