Social media makes a difference
As momentum shifts toward digital communications in these unprecedented times, it’s important that the disability community join in to have their voices heard. Since the online space is constantly changing, SourceAmerica has taken steps to put ourselves at the forefront of the digital pulse to continue amplifying our mission to increase employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
Utilizing Interactive Content
Along with posting our blogs and feature stories on sourceamerica.org, we are creating interactive Buzzfeed quizzes that can bring the content to life. Buzzfeed quizzes that relate to an article offer the reader the opportunity to put their newfound knowledge to the test in a fun way.
Pro tip: If you are looking to capture readers in a new way, create a Buzzfeed account and get started today.
Creating video content
People love watching videos on social media because they break up the monotony of scrolling through feeds. We continue to create engaging video content to tell our story in a unique way. Videos are a great way to capture an audience for a longer time and give organizations an opportunity to share more about their mission.
Tie trending moments to your mission
Whether it is World Emoji Day or New Year's Day there are plenty of trending themes. At SourceAmerica, we use these themes and tie them back to our mission in order to tell a story through social. This can help our organization's brand seem more relatable and topical. For example, on World Emoji Day we showcased the different iOS emojis that shed light on the disability community.
Use all the social media channels you can
Being part of each social media platform ensures that we have a large social footprint! There are so many social platforms out there – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest etc. SourceAmerica has found what works best for us but we continue to innovate. While we are currently on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and LinkedIn, we are launching Instagram this fall. Be sure to keep an eye on our social media channels for more details.
Pro tip: When launching any social media account, make sure you have a monthly plan in place!
Follow relevant hashtags
Social media doesn’t take a break! The job of a social media manager often extends beyond 9 to 5 duties. We want to know when people (even those who may not yet be following us) are talking about us and our initiatives. SourceAmerica follows relevant hashtags and keywords so we can always stay on the pulse of important and relevant conversations.
Pro tip: Pay attention to the hashtags that are being used in social posts that refer to your organization. This will tell you what topics are also associated with your company and therefore those you should follow!
It’s important that organizations can easily be found on social media and stay on trend. As the social world continues to grow, and breaking news hits social media first, organizations have the chance to be part of the conversation.
We hope these tips help with your online engagement efforts and set you up for success on all your social channels!
