The Full Story
For more than 50 years, Jim Click Automotive has helped create meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities, demonstrating how long-term partnerships can shape careers and strengthen communities. What began in 1975 as just two individuals working at a dealership has grown into a program that now includes more than 40 workers with disabilities, supported by job coaches across Southern Arizona. Over the decades, hundreds—if not thousands—of individuals have gained valuable work experience through these roles, many of whom have built lasting careers along the way.
Jim Click Automotive was an early advocate of employment opportunities for people with disabilities, even at a time when such opportunities were far more limited. In the mid-1970s, well before many workplace protections and accessibility initiatives existed, the organization opened its doors to people with disabilities and helped establish an employment model that continues today. As the company expanded, so did the employment opportunities, growing steadily and opening up possibilities for individuals to develop skills, earn better wages, and become valued members of the workforce.
This partnership extends beyond job creation. Employees at Jim Click Automotive locations are welcomed into the broader workplace culture and recognized for their contributions. They're encouraged to participate in staff events and benefit from service award programs that celebrate long-term dedication. Some employees have even worked at the dealership for more than 25 years, earning recognition and rewards that reflect their commitment and hard work. It fosters an environment where employees see others reach milestones and feel inspired to reach similar goals.
Jim Click Automotive's approach has influenced others in the region. As people in the automotive industry saw the positive impact of their employment program, such as better team morale and collaboration, other dealerships began to create similar opportunities. Jim Click Automotive hasn’t just provided opportunities for its own employees, but has also helped expand opportunities in the greater community.
Beyond the workplace, Jim Click Automotive has supported initiatives that strengthen programs and services benefiting people with disabilities. This continued investment reflects a belief that employment opportunities, skill development, and community support all play an important role in helping individuals succeed.
The impact of these efforts is clear after five decades. Through sustained commitment, hiring practices, and long-term support for employees, Jim Click Automotive has helped transform opportunities for countless individuals. As Mitch Eskritt, director of marketing and development at Beacon Group, put it, "They walk the walk and talk the talk." That dedication continues to empower people with disabilities to build careers, contribute their talents, and envision a future filled with possibilities.
