Ruben Rodriguez
COO, The Arc of the United States
Ruben Rodriguez is a member of the SourceAmerica Board of Directors.
Rodriguez currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of The Arc of the United States where he strategically supports the national organization with 600 state and local chapters across the country. The Arc is the world's largest community-based organization whose mission is to promote and protect the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and to actively support their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes. Rodriguez's connection to the I/DD community started at a young age while visiting his uncle at the infamous Willowbrook Institution. Prior to joining The Arc in 2019, he had a successful career in financial and operations management in the mid-market nonprofit industry, holding the post of CFO and COO for several decades.
Rodriguez works closely with The Arc's leadership to support the mission, providing day-to-day strategic financial and operational management and planning to meet the organization’s short- and long-term objectives. Included in his portfolio is oversight and hands-on leadership of finance, human resources, information technology, risk management, and broad program support. Rodriguez worked hand in hand with the staff and volunteer leadership teams to successfully steer The Arc through the COVID-19 pandemic, managing major changes in how the organization operated day-to-day, coupled with the financial uncertainty in the nonprofit sector.
Rodriguez holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Pace University and a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance and Investments from George Washington University. He is also a Certified Professional Coach and is currently working on a master's degree in Disability Studies at the City University of New York.
