New financial opportunity provides a critical resource for people with disabilities and organizations employing them

The need for personal protective equipment (PPE) remains strong, and SourceAmerica® anticipates PPE will continue to play an important role in our society for the foreseeable future. That’s why SourceAmerica today announced a new Personal Protective Equipment Grant program designed to help protect employees at nonprofit agencies within its network from the spread of COVID-19.

With this grant, more than 400 nonprofit agencies in the SourceAmerica network will be eligible to receive up to $5,000 worth of PPE. These agencies provide employment to nearly 40,000 people with disabilities through the AbilityOne® Program, one of the largest sources of employment for people who are blind or have significant disabilities. PPE will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. The total value of the grant is in excess of $1 million.

“SourceAmerica remains committed to assisting nonprofit agencies and AbilityOne contract employees during the pandemic,” said Richard Belden, Interim President and CEO at SourceAmerica. “We are fortunate to be able to provide PPE across our network, because masks, gloves and hand sanitizer have proven to be effective in helping prevent the spread of COVID-19.”

The PPE Grant is another substantial offering from SourceAmerica, a leading job creator within the disability community. SourceAmerica has also created financial assistance grants for eligible nonprofit agencies for several potential hardships. These include support for employees who have been unable to work due to COVID-19-related work stoppages, funds to help people with disabilities file tax returns, and a natural disaster assistance grant
