Practice Description

Training program provided for manager development and improvement.

Resources Needed

Subject matter experts/trainers

  • Internal staff and external subject matter experts with knowledge of employee and leadership development

Labor Hours

  • Time for trainers and employees to complete training annually

Funding

  • Initial cost for startup materials, such as training curriculum
  • Ongoing cost for gift cards provided to external training partners
  • Ongoing cost of employee time and additional training materials

Implementation Process

Process

  • Challenge University in an internal manager training program that requires managers to receive at least 40 hours of training per year.
  • Training topics include, but are not limited to:
    • Creating Bulletproof Documentations
    • Effective Performance Evaluations
    • Workplace Relationships
    • Conflict Management
    • Train-the-Trainer
    • Diversity Awareness
  • Trainers include internal staff and external subject matter experts from local community resources, such as universities, businesses, and counseling centers

Documentation

  • SOPs
    • Processes and procedures for implementing and managing the training program

Outcomes/Results

  • This program was recognized by CARF as a state-of-the art method for manager training
  • The success of the program resulted in the creation of an Employee Growth and Development training program that extends to all staff at any employment level
    • Approximately 1200 employees receive 8 hours of training annually
    • Training topics include:
      • Successful Time Management Skills
      • Behavioral Based Interviewing
      • Conflict Management
      • Enhancing Self-Esteem
      • Stress Management
  • Creates a well-trained workforce and fosters positive company culture
  • Improves training skills for internal staff
