The AbilityOne® Program saves the federal government between $176 to $359 million annually. Annual total savings range from 7 to 14 cents per dollar spent on an AbilityOne contract. The estimated gross savings are primarily driven by reduced expenditures on:

  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)
  • Medicare
  • Medicaid

Each of these programs spends at least $35 to $40 million per year less than they would without the AbilityOne Program.

We have compiled this data to support local Wing Commanders in their conversations with their local community representatives.  Highlighting the program's economic impact aligns with our goal of creating employment, mission support to the Air Force, and the benefits to the local community.  Click the link below to review the economic data at Air Force installations.
