Steve Wooderson

Steve Wooderson is a member of the SourceAmerica Board of Directors.
Wooderson's career in public vocational rehabilitation spans four decades and all levels. Recognized for his servant leadership and passion for partnerships, his extensive experience offers a unique perspective.
Wooderson served as CEO of the Council of State Administrators of Vocational Rehabilitation, where he collaborated with top state agency administrators from across the U.S. to oversee rehabilitation efforts for approximately 1.2 million individuals with disabilities. During his 15-year tenure with the organization, he forged domestic and international partnerships, advocating for the public vocational rehabilitation program. He retired from CSAVR in 2025.
Prior to CSAVR, he was the Administrator of Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services, where he managed key programs and services, after spending 20 years in Missouri advancing through various leadership roles, ultimately overseeing statewide services.
Wooderson also dedicated two decades to the Army National Guard and Reserves, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He became a certified Dale Carnegie trainer and continues to serve as adjunct faculty at Drake University.
Wooderson holds an M.S. in Psychometric Assessment and Counseling from Spaulding University. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
Now in retirement, Steve still teaches and consults in the vocational rehabilitation field, but his greatest joy is his family, especially cheering on his grandkids. He also finds simple pleasure in fishing.
